NEWS: Jacquie Atkinson Launches Campaign for Congress

San Diego - Jacquie Atkinson (R) made it official today: she is running for Congress in the 52nd Congressional District against incumbent Congressman Scott Peters (D).

"I have served my country in combat and I am prepared to serve my country in Congress," Atkinson stated. "Whether it is wasting our money, failing to provide for our security or ignoring the struggles of working families, Congress is completely broken and career politician Scott Peters is the epitome of what is wrong with our Congress," Atkinson noted.

Jacquie Atkinson is a highly decorated honorably discharged veteran and Wounded Warrior Alumni with numerous Combat decorations.

During her tours of duty she served as a Platoon Commander and Company Commander, later a staff officer directly in support of Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

After serving her country in combat as a U.S. Marine, Jacquie is currently a Portfolio Manager in support of the Joint Improvised Explosives Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) where she works on mitigating the impacts of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Jacquie's expertise is used for Joint Military Publications and training war fighters on tactics, techniques and procedures pertaining to Asymmetric Warfare.

"Multi-millionaire Scott Peters is out of touch with San Diegans on so many issues and has shown a gross sense of privilege that the laws do not apply to him," Atkinson noted. "While Scott Peters has broken the trust of San Diegans, I pledge to go to Washington and represent San Diegans with the integrity and honesty they deserve," said Atkinson as she announced her candidacy.
